PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour’s Class AA quarterfinal matchup against Clay County in the high school state football playoffs will be played on Friday night.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. at George Byrer Field at Freedom Bank Park.

The third-seeded Colts (9-2) advanced with a 36-8 win over South Harrison on Friday evening.

The 11th-seeded Panthers, meanwhile, upset No. 6 Roane County to move on in the postseason.

It will be the first time in school history Philip Barbour has hosted a quarterfinal game in football.

The Colts defeated Clay County in the opening round of last year’s playoffs.
