Lady Tigers’ Belcher earns first-team honors

ELKINS — Elkins High School’s Greylyn Belcher was recently named to the first unit in both the WVHSSCA Class AAA all-state and Big 10 Conference teams.
The junior was selected as a defender for her work on the pitch this past fall.
Other Lady Tigers earning all-state honors were junior forward Ziah George — a special honorable mention selection — while sophomore Savannah Rowan and juniors Lilly Betler and Talia Nucilli were named honorable mention.
Buckhannon-Upshur senior midfielder Sidney Hollen was also named to the Big 10 first team, along with being selected special honorable mention on the Class AAAA all-state squad.
Named to the Big 10 second team for the Lady Bucs were senior defender Mallory Hughes and senior Haley Triplett.
Hughes garnered second-team all-state honors as well, with Hollen and junior forward Rylen Carlyle being listed as special honorable mention and junior Kallie Perry and Triplett honorable mention.
Philip Barbour senior defender-forward Shiloh Chenoweth was named to the Big 10 second unit.
Pocahontas County senior goalkeeper Shayla Bennett and junior midfielder Romona Hardy earned Class A all-state second-team laurels, while juniors Riley Cassell and Allyson Taylor and freshman Chloe Annett made the honorable-mention list.
