BLACKSVILLE — Tygarts Valley split games in the Santa Series hosted by Clay-Battelle over the weekend.
The Bulldogs, who lost to the host Cee Bees, 69-51, in Friday night’s first game, rallied for a 50-37 win over Cameron on Saturday.
Tygarts Valley trailed 25-12 at halftime but outscored the Dragons 38-12 over the final two quarters.
Adam Woods had 16 points and Jacob Wamley netted 15 to lead Tygarts Valley.
“We had not put together a good half of basketball until this second half on Saturday,” Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley said. “We had several kids sick but after some soul searching at halftime, the team pulled themselves together to play our best half of the young season.”
Hunter Dobbs had 13 and Danny Yoss 10 for Cameron in the setback.
In Friday night’s loss to Clay-Battelle, Wamsley tossed in 18 points and Woods chipped in with nine.
“We had a good start, then flattened out,” said Wamsley, whose team trailed just 21-20 after the opening quarter. “We just had too many turnovers to survive.”
Trey Huggins and Colt Sandy had 18 apiece for the Cee Bees, who led 39-27 at the halftime break and a 56-38 after three quarters.
Maddox Kisner added 13.
Tygarts Valley (1-2) is slated to host Ritchie County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the home opener.
