Elkins High swim teams post victories

ELKINS — The Elkins High boys and girls swam past Fairmont Senior and Charleston Catholic Wednesday at George A. Myles Pool on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.

The EHS boys tallied 71 points, followed by Fairmont Senior (52) and Charleston Catholic.

Freshman Kyan George captured the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.98), the 50 freestyle (24.32) and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team, along with Joel Casto, Dorsey Cutright and Koloton Ward, that turned in a time of 1:44.25.

Casto crossed the finish line first in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.17) and Cutright claimed the 200 IM (2:25.43).

Fairmont Senior’s Tred Bennington won the 100 freestyle (51.57) and 100 butterfly (55.69) and a member of the first-place 200 medley (1:51.92) and 400 freestyle (4:05.32) relays.

The Lady Tigers racked up 91 points to outdistance Fairmont Senior (47) and Charleston Catholic (24).

Lilly Irons claimed the 50 freestyle (25.98) and 500 freestyle (6:05.12), Lilly Anger the 100 freestyle (59.12), Emma Ujvagi the 100 breaststroke (1:14.91) and Aleah Irons the 100 butterfly (1:06.84).

Aleah Irons, Ujvagi, Lilly Irons and Anger took the 200 medley (1:58.21) and 200 freestyle (1:47.63) relays and Leah Ours, Raighan Carte Hall, Kenadi Carte and Sophia Rhodes the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 4:24.06.

Elkins will travel to the Mohawk Invitational at 9 a.m. today at Mylan Park Aquatic Center.
