Lady Tigers get past TV

MILL CREEK — Elkins held off Tygarts Valley, 53-47, Friday night at Weber-Wamsley Court.

The Lady Tigers led 27-17 at halftime and 42-37 after three quarters.

Mencia Gomez came off the bench to score nine of her 11 team-high points over the final two cantos for Elkins.

Emma Gilbert added 10 points.

Sarah Defibaugh had a game-high 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who are now 2-2 and slated to face Greenbrier West on Dec. 27 in the Summersville Classic.

Elkins (1-1) will compete in the Robert C. Byrd tournament on Dec. 29-30.

In the junior varsity contest, the Lady Tigers picked up a 44-18 as freshman Saniah Spady scored 19 points.

Hallie Ellis led Tygarts Valley with nine points on the evening.

Petersburg wins tourney

PETERSBURG — Petersburg claimed its Tip Tournament with an 80-34 win over Pendleton County on Saturday.

Four players landed in double figures for the Lady Vikings.

Miley Tingler led the way with 19 points, Sis Cole added 17, Karlie DiBenedetto hit for 16 and Ryleigh Hall chipped in with 11.

Susan Vincell led the Lady Wildcats with 19 points in the setback.

Petersburg improved to 4-2 and will be idle until visiting Frankfort on Jan. 6.

Pendleton County is now 2-2 and is scheduled to return to the court Jan. 2 at Bath County (Va.).
