Mountain Lions pull away from Tigers to spoil home debut

ELKINS — Class A, No. 2 Tucker County pulled away in the second half to hand Elkins a 56-41 setback Saturday night in the home opener at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers (0-2) trailed 24-20 at halftime but were outscored 12-7 in the third frame and 15-14 in the final canto.

Landon Shreve had 12 points and Isaiah Nutter 11 to lead Elkins.

The Mountain Lions were led by Cayden Arnold and Lucas Barb with 11 points apiece.

Ethan Cummings chipped in 10.

Both teams are back in action this evening as the Tigers venture to John Marshall and Tucker County entertains Petersburg in the home opener at 7 p.m.
