Prep basketball season already dealing with weather issues
Tygarts Valley girls have had three games postponed
ELKINS — The recent blast of wintry weather has created several postponements, with the high school boys and girls basketball seasons starting to kick into high gear.
Wednesday’s boys contest between Tucker County and Elkins was postponed and moved to 7:30 p.m. Monday at EHS.
The Tigers are now slated to open the season this evening at Hampshire, while the Mountain Lions will visit Mountain Ridge (Md.) at 7 p.m. — both contests weather permitting.
The Tygarts Valley girls have had three games postponed already this season.
The home contest against Pocahontas County will now be played at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Thursday’s game at Tucker County was also moved to 7:30 p.m. today.
Tygarts Valley hosts Notre Dame at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Tucker County girls game at home against Pocahontas County postponed last Friday is now scheduled to be played on Jan. 30.
The Philip Barbour girls, meanwhile, opened the season with a 34-31 loss to host Grafton Wednesday night in Sam Bord Memorial Tournament action.
Izzy Knotts had 15 points and Ansley Bolyard chipped in 10 points for the Lady Colts in the setback.
Kenna Keener led the Lady Bearcats with 16 points.
Philip Barbour faced Nicholas County on Thursday evening in its final game of the tourney.
