Tigers, Bucs and Colts well-represented on Big 10 squads
ELKINS — The all-Big 10 Conference football teams were officially announced on Monday.
The teams are broken down into Blue Division (Bridgeport, Buckhannon-Upshur, East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior, Preston and Robert C. Byrd) and Gold Division (Elkins, Grafton, Lewis County, Lincoln, North Marion and Philip Barbour).
The conference was once again well-represented in the postseason as Elkins, Bridgeport, Fairmont Senior, Robert C. Byrd and North Marion earned berths in Class AAA, B-U in Class AAAA and Philip Barbour and Lincoln in double-A.
Elkins players earning spots on the Gold Division squad include senior running back Logan Beam, junior offensive lineman Owen Stanley, junior defensive lineman Devin Hulver and sophomore defensive back Tony Silvester.
Philip Barbour, which advanced to the state semifinals, placed junior running back Landyn Carpenter, senior receiver Malachi Poling, senior Cam Bennett (utility offense), senior offensive linemen Malachi Cross and Dayton Morrison, senior defensive linemen Owen Johnson and Aiden Phillips, senior linebacker Tyler Vance, junior linebacker Mason Jones, senior defensive back Patrick Webster and freshman kicker Ayden Thorne on the Gold Division unit.
B-U senior Dawson Tenney was named the offensive utility player on the Blue Division team, along with teammates — junior defensive lineman Greyson Wyland and junior linebacker Kadyn Baisden.
Fairmont Senior sophomore Anthony Smith was tabbed the Blue Division quarterback, with Fairmont Senior’s Tarran Boda, RCB’s Isaiah Calvert and Bridgeport’s Eli Knight the running backs and Preston senior Aidan Schmidl, East Fairmont senior Gavin Murphey, senior Jason Walker of Fairmont Senior and junior Rudy Carrillo of Fairmont Senior the receivers.
The offensive line consists of Preston junior Hayden Cole, East Fairmont junior Chris Garlow, RCB seniors Julian Bailey and Braydon Hendricks, seniors Daeshaun Floyd and Triston Ramsey from Fairmont Senior and Bridgeport seniors Wes Conley and Harrison Hall.
The defensive line is comprised of RCB senior Trevor Dean, East Fairmont senior Larry Nichols, Bridgeport senior Noah West and junior Tristin Noble, senior Jaevin Papalii and junior King Abercrombie of Fairmont Senior and Preston junior Blake Jennings.
Joining Baisden at linebacker are RCB senior Armondo Montero, Bridgeport senior Johnny Knight and junior Brody Jeran and Fairmont Senior junior Parker Bigelow.
Defensive backs include Fairmont Senior sophomore Christian Hrapchak and senior Gabe Kubasky, Bridgeport junior Graham Vincent, East Fairmont sophomore Jaxson Heskett and RCB junior Isaiah Heflin.
The defensive utility player is Bridgeport junior Sean Veltri and the kicker is East Fairmont senior Karson Church.
Rounding out the Gold Division squad are Lincoln senior quarterback AJ Bart, North Marion sophomore running back Brian Poindexter, Lincoln junior receivers Jacob Bart and Colton Edwards and North Marion senior Cyrus Collins.
The remainder of the offensive line consists of Lincoln junior Levi Greaver, Grafton junior Abbott Dahl, North Marion sophomore Evan Miller and senior Logan Gump and Lewis County senior Jacksen Cogar.
North Marion junior Gavin Floyd, Lewis County senior Leo Jones, Lincoln junior Brycen Moore, Grafton senior Michael Newbraugh and North Marion senior Toby Michael are the other selections along the defensive line.
Vance and Mason Jones are joined at linebacker by North Marion senior Josh Holden and Grafton senior Brayden Boggs, while North Marion junior Blake Johnson, Grafton senior Cole Runner and Lewis County junior Aiden Oldaker round out the defensive backs.
The defensive utility player is Lincoln sophomore Cade Mooney and the punter is North Marion senior Karter Parson.
Philip Barbour’s Nick Mayle was named the Big 10 Coach of the Year, Bridgeport junior Gavin Williams the Player of the Year, Preston senior Slaton Manko the Offensive Player of the Year, Bridgeport junior Gabe Martin the Defensive Player of the Year and Bridgeport senior Bryson Lowther the Lineman of the Year.
