D&E, Wesleyan fall on the road; Lady ’Cats win

FAIRMONT — Miguel Martinez and Drey Carter combined for 43 points to power Fairmont State to a 90-72 win over Davis & Elkins Wednesday night in Mountain East Conference play at Joe Retton Arena.

Martinez finished with 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds, with Carter netting 21 points and collecting eight boards.

David Jolinder, Tyheil Peterson and Rene Diop added 11 points apiece.

Nnadozie Okoroji had 23 points and six rebounds, Vegas Evans 22 points off the bench and Noah Adamczyk 13 points for the Senators, who dropped to 6-11 overall and 3-7 MEC and will visit West Virginia Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Malachi Hampton chipped in seven caroms and Dontrell Jenkins five assists in the loss.

The Falcons are now 14-3 and 8-2 MEC and travel to Frostburg State at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Frostburg State 105

Wesleyan 83

FROSTBURG — DJ Daniel’s 26 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists carried Frostburg State to a 105-83 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday night in a MEC matchup at Bobcat Arena.

Trey Simmons added 22 points for Frostburg State, followed by Mitch Finefrock’s 15, Kyle Whippen with 14 and Christopher Meakin with 12.

Isaiah Baker led Wesleyan with 21 points and five assists. Jerell Jean-Baptiste had 15 points, Adrius Janciauskas added 13 points and six helpers and Curtis Litton 11 points.

Wesleyan (1-15, 1-9 MEC) entertains MEC rival Davis & Elkins at 4 p.m. Saturday, while Frostburg State (10-7, 6-4) hosts Fairmont State at 2 p.m. Saturday.

FROSTBURG — Kilah Dandridge scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead West Virginia Wesleyan to an 87-76 win over Frostburg State Wednesday evening in Mountain East Conference play inside Bobcat Arena.

Emma Witt added 21 points, Sydney Baird 17 points and five assists and Allie Daniels 12 points and seven caroms for the Lady Bobcats, who improved to 9-4 overall and 7-3 in the MEC.

Jenna Muha had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the hosts, while Julie Spinelli added 13 points and four helpers.

Wesleyan plays host to Davis & Elkins at 2 p.m. Saturday in MEC action.

Frostburg State dropped to 9-8 and 5-5 and hosts Fairmont State at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Fairmont State 82, D&E 61

FAIRMONT — Four players landed in double figures as Fairmont State handed Davis & Elkins an 82-61 setback Wednesday night in MEC action at Joe Retton Arena.

Jahniya Marion had 17 points, three assists, five steals and seven rebounds for the Lady Senators and Kylie Morris also netted 17 points.

Haylen Cook had a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Falcons, followed by Gabby Reep with 16 points, Alanna Tate with 13 points and Leila Jones with 12 points.

D&E (1-17, 0-10 MEC) will travel to West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Saturday, while Fairmont State (14-3, 8-2) venture to Frostburg State at the same time on Saturday.
