Shreve, Boggs power Tigers past Colts

PHILIPPI – Elkins picked up its first victory of the season in dealing Philip Barbour a 72-59 setback Friday night in Big 10 Conference action.
Landon Shreve tossed in 24 points and Dreyton Boggs drilled four treys in chipping with 18 points for the Tigers, who led 19-18 after one quarter before outscoring the Colts, 17-8, in the second canto to take a 36-26 into the intermission.
A 3-pointer by Kale Wolfe cut the lead to 38-31 early into the third quarter but Elkins went on a 12-6 run to close the frame and lead by 13, at 50-37, heading into the final canto.
Wolfe had 16 points, Landyn Carpenter 14 and Malachi Poling 10 to lead Philip Barbour, which is slated to visit Robert C. Byrd on Wednesday.
The Tigers (1-7) travel to Tucker County on Monday night.
