Tiger wrestlers compete at St. Marys; EHS freshman best Colts

ST. MARYS — The Elkins High School wrestling squad competed in the Par Mar Stores Alumni Tournament last weekend at St. Marys High School.
On Friday, the Lady Tigers competed, tallying 13 points to finish 17th out of 20 teams.
Shyla Dominguez placed fifth and Serenity Shifflett was sixth.
Parkersburg had 112.50 points to win the title.
The EHS boys were in action on Saturday.
The Tigers placed 12th in the 19-team field with 74 points.
University took team honors with 198.50 points.
Tucker Twigg, competing in the 144-pound class, went 4-1 and placed third, along with Chiron Wing at 190 pounds.
Wing went 4-1 on the day.
At 106, Scott Twigg placed fourth with a 3-2 mark.
Other EHS wrestlers competing included Brennan Daniels (1-2 at 113), Logan Stewart (2-2, 157) and Anthony Isabell (1-2, 175).
Elkins returns to the mat next Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Bob Zide Rumble at Williamstown.

Elkins 69, PB 54
PHILIPPI — Eli Bennett scored 15 points to lead the Elkins freshman to a 69-54 win over Philip Barbour on Friday night.
Kyan George added 10 for the Tigers.
Mayle had 12 for the Colts and Gould chipped in 11.
