Warriors get past Bulldogs at Classic

SUMMERSVILLE — Three players landed in double figures to lead Trinity Christian to a 54-39 win over Tygarts Valley Wednesday in Summersville Winter Classic action.

Austin Porta fired in 21 points, including five 3-pointers, for the Warriors, while Maddox Mousadis added 17 and Collin Lemley 13.

Alex Scott was the lone player in double figures for the Bulldogs with 10 points.

Tygarts Valley trailed 13-11 after one quarter but only tallied a pair of free throws from Scott in the second canto en route to trailing 28-13 at halftime.

The Bulldogs held a 15-14 scoring edge in the third frame.

“One cold quarter (the second) killed us again,” TV coach Tom Wamsley said. “But we’ll get it worked out.”

The Bulldogs (1-4) were slated to host regional foe Pendleton County this evening but that contest had been postponed until Jan. 14.
