PETERSBURG — The Elkins High wrestling team competed in the Viking Smash this past Saturday.

The Tigers defeated East Hardy (33-17), Pendleton County (34-24) and Philip Barbour (30-21) and fell to Frankfort (53-24), Hampshire (36-36, Hampshire won by criteria), Hedgesville (66-18), Keyser (66-18), Petersburg (47-23) and Moorefield (59-24).

Tucker Twigg (144 pounds) captured first with a 10-0 record for Elkins, while Isaac Workman (285) placed second with a 9-1 mark, Chiron Wing (190) third with an 8-2 record and Anthony Isabell (175) third with a 7-3 mark.

The Tigers are slated to compete in the Larry Snuffer Slam this weekend.

Elkins will then host the Big 10 Conference Championships on Feb. 14, starting at 10 a.m. inside Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
