Lady Tigers rally past Lady Bucs

ELKINS -- Elkins mounted a late surge Thursday night in rallying past Buckhannon‑Upshur for a 42-40 victory in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Emma Gilbert delivered the decisive blow, knocking down a clutch 3‑pointer with 20 seconds remaining to cap the comeback.

Gilbert finished with a game‑high 15 points to pace Elkins. Ella Bates added eight points, Menia Gomez scored six and both Madi Zirkle and Ziah George chipped in five apiece.

The Lady Bucs controlled the early tempo, jumping out to a 14-4 lead after the first period and taking a 21-16 advantage into halftime.

B-U was led by Emma Pingley's 12 points, while Allie Key added 10.

Seven additional players contributed scoring for B‑U in the balanced effort.

The Lady Bucs return home Saturday to face Fairmont Senior for a Big 10 encounter.

Elkins is scheduled to travel to Bridgeport on Tuesday in league play.
