No. 6 East Hardy holds of late charge by Bulldogs

MILL CREEK — Class A, No. 6 East Hardy used a strong second half to hold off Tygarts Valley, 55-49, Friday night at Weber Wamsley Court.

The Bulldogs led 17-15 after one quarter but the Cougars took a 29-28 lead into halftime.

East Hardy then outscored Tygarts Valley, 14-11, in the third to enter the final quarter with a 43-35 lead.

The Bulldogs held a 14-12 scoring edge in the final frame.

Evan Hamilton scored 17 points to pace the Cougars, followed by Gideon Good and Joseph Price with 12 each.

Jacob Wamsley tossed in a game-high 20 points for TV.

Parker Bell added 11.

“The kids players their hearts out against one of the best teams in the state,” Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley said. “We were within one more successful possession of winning the game.

“Cannot ask for much more.”

Tygarts Valley (5-10) remains home at 4 p.m. today against Union.
