Ward, Union capture victory over Bulldogs

Junior scores 26 to become school's all-time leading scorer

MILL CREEK — Braylon Ward became Union’s all-time leading scorer in a 55-47 victory over Tygarts Valley Saturday at Weber-Wamsley Court in a matchup of regional foes.

Ward, a junior, scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers erased a 40-36 deficit by outscoring the Bulldogs, 19-7, in the final frame.

Ward was 11 of 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Jacob Wamsley had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Tygarts Valley. Parker Bell contributed nine points to go along with four steals and four pass deflections, Aiden Phares nine caroms and Austin Gear three steals.

Corbin Streets added 16 points and Eric Linkswiler 10 for Union, which improved to 8-9 and visits Pocahontas County on Thursday.

The Bulldogs (5-11) travel to Harman at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
