EHS runners compete in Adidas Indoor Track National competition

VIRGINIA BEACH–Six student-athletes from Elkins High School qualified for and competed in the Adidas Indoor Track National competition this past weekend at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

On Saturday morning, Julia Biola earned a third place medal with a new personal best time of 11:12.00 in the girls National Elite division. Biola later set a new personal best time that night in the 800 with a 2:22.84.

Emilia Tenney competed in the Championship division on the same day and posted times of 11:46.70 in the two mile and 2:20.31 in the 800 meter run.

Ben Tenney and Trevor George got the meet underway Saturday for the boys with respective times of 10:10.14 and 9:46.02 in the two mile run.

George returned to the track Saturday evening to compete in the 800 meter run (2:05.46) along with teammates Josh Bodkins (2:01.72) and Bobby Valentine (2:04.84).

On Sunday, Elkins’ four boy qualifiers returned to the track once more to take first place out of 45 entries in the National Elite division of the 4×800 meter relay. After strong splits by Bodkins, George, and Tenney put the relay in contention for the win, Valentine pulled into the lead with 200 meters to go and held off a chase pack of four runners for a dramatic victory in a time of 8:11.96.
