Lady Tigers drop verdict to Lincoln

ELKINS — Elkins dropped an 11-2 decision to Lincoln in its Big 10 Conference opener on Tuesday evening.

Hailey Riffle had an RBI on one hit for the Lady Tigers (1-2, 0-1 Big 10).

Maddie Lambert accounted for the other hit.

Adriana Elder, Aspen Dyer and Avery Hardesty had two RBIs each for the Lady Cougars.

Elder went all five innings to earn the win, fanning five and walking one.

Addison Carr was tagged with the loss for Elkins, which visits Hampshire on Monday.

East Fairmont 18

Philip Barbour 0

PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour lost an 18-0 verdict to East Fairmont Tuesday in Big 10 play.

Sophia Stevens allowed two hits over three innings to earn the win.

Paige Starkey and Olivia Wilmoth had the hits for the Lady Colts.

Kelcie Criss had four RBIs for the Lady Bees.

Kassidy Edens added a two-run inside-the-park homer.

B-U 11, Preston 7

KINGWOOD — Kynnedy Marple had three hits and two RBIs and earned the win on the mound to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to an 11-7 win over Preston on Tuesday.

Marple fanned three over 4 1/3 innings. She gave five runs on four hits.

Braylea Squires added three hits and two RBIs and Madi Knabenshue a pair of RBIs for B-U, which has won three straight games to improve to 3-1 on the young season.
