MGA hosts Mountain Madness meet

Mountain Gymnastics Academy's Mountain Madness gymnastics meet was held on March 7 and 8, bringing together more than 170 gymnasts and their families from eight gyms for two days of competition.

Athletes competed on vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise, and several MGA gymnasts recorded personal best scores during the meet.

In the Xcel Bronze division, Brielle Hayes of Elkins placed 1st on uneven bars and tied for 1st in the all-around. Ivy Smith of Burnsville and Ellie Skinner of Buckhannon tied for 2nd on floor, while JJ Stalnakar of Beverly tied for 2nd on beam in her age group.

In the Xcel Silver division, Ember Loudin of Buckhannon placed 1st on vault and 1st in the all-around, and finished 2nd on bars and beam. Lilly Bosely of Belington placed 1st on bars, 1st on beam, and 2nd all-around. Harmony Hymes, also of Belington, placed 1st on vault, 1st all-around, and tied for 2nd on beam. Other finishes included Everly Casto of Elkins placing 1st on floor, Ava Boyer of Coalton placing 2nd on floor, and Nevaeh Taylor of Elkins placing 2nd on vault and 1st on bars.

In the Xcel Gold division, Ava Graham of Coalton placed 2nd on vault and 2nd all-around. Kaylee Long of Elkins placed 1st on beam, Lizzy Dale of Elkins placed 1st on floor, and Kinsley Ricottilli of Belington tied for 2nd on bars.

MGA gymnasts competing in the Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire divisions also recorded several personal record scores during the meet. During the event, the program recognized its two graduating seniors, Allison Judy of Bowden and Liz Jones of Elkins, for their years of participation and dedication to gymnastics. Most of MGA's athletes are heading to the West Virginia State Gymnastics competition in Beckley on March 20-22.
