All-Potomac Valley Conference teams revealed

ELKINS — The Potomac Valley Conference was once again well-represented in the state tournament this past season.

The all-PVC Division teams recently released are headlined by players that played on the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center floor last month.

Tucker County, East Hardy and Petersburg all participated in the state tournament.

The Mountain Lions placed senior Sam Marks and junior Cayden Arnold on the Division 2 squad.

Tucker County’s bid to play in the state title game for the fourth straight season was derailed by Tug Valley, which went on to win its third straight banner, in the semifinals. The Mountain Lions defeated Huntington St. Joseph’s in the quarterfinals.

Wamsley

Petersburg played in the Class AA portion of the state tournament and lost to Bluefield in the quarterfinals.

Kaleb Kuhn and Caden Ours were tabbed to the all-PVC Division II team for the Vikings.

Tygarts Valley’s Jacob Wamsley, who went over 1,000 points for his career this season, also was chosen for the Division II team, along with Pendleton County’s Chase Owens.

East Hardy also advanced to the semifinals, falling to Greater Beckley Christian, 55-54, in a thriller.

The Cougars are represented on the Division 3 squad by Evan Hamilton, Mason Hamilton and Gideon Good.

The remainder of the Division 3 unit includes Harman’s Grady Shifflett, Union’s Braylon Ward, who became the school’s all-time leading scorer this past season, Union’s Braylon Ward and Paw Paw’s Taylor Carder.
