Colts cruise to win over Braxton County
SUTTON — Philip Barbour pounded out 21 hits in rolling to a 25-0 win over regional foe Braxton County on Saturday afternoon.
Kent Rowan went 3 for 4 with three RBIs Landyn Carpenter went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Anthony Mosesso 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Colts, who erupted for 13 runs in the fourth inning after leading 12-0.
Kale Wolfe, Braxton Carpenter and Keagan Wolfe added two RBIs each.
Robbie Jones allowed just three hits in going all four innings to earn the win. He struck out five and walked two.
Philip Barbour (10-10) will host Petersburg at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for another Class AA, Region II matchup.
Gilmer County 10, Tygarts Valley 0
GLENVILLE — Tygarts Valley dropped a 10-0 verdict to Gilmer County on Friday night.
Remington Huffman went five innings to earn the victory, surrendering five hits, fanning five and walking two.
Cooper Markley was tagged with the loss, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out one.
Zayden Defibaugh finished in relief. He gave up three runs on two hits and fanned two.
Kolten Holbert was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and a home run for the Titans.
Jacob Wamsley had two hits for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 12-9 and return home at 6 p.m. Wednesday to battle Pendleton County.
