EHS softball earns win; Lady Bulldogs swept

ELKINS — Gabby Mahanes had three hits, including a solo homer, and Braelynn Washington and Zeya Price three RBIs each as Elkins celebrated Senior Day with a 15-0 win over Pocahontas County Saturday at Betty Heckel Field.

Mahanes also cracked a triple and double on the day. She finished with two RBIs.

Washington had a two-run single, Maddie Lambert an RBI single and Price a bases-clearing triple as the Lady Tigers plated eight runs in the first inning.

Addison Carr and Mahanes had solo homers in the fourth inning, with Lambert and Price adding run-producing singles.

Lambert worked three innings, allowing just one hit and fanning three on the mound, while Meria Tarley struck out one in one inning of relief.

Riyan Gladwell had the lone hit for the Lady Warriors.

Elkins (4-7) was slated to visit East Fairmont Monday for a Big 10 Conference matchup.

East Hardy sweeps Lady Bulldogs

HUTTONSVILLE — Tygarts Valley dropped a doubleheader to East Hardy on Saturday afternoon, by scores of 11-1 and 18-15.

Kailen Yokum went 4 for 5 in the 18-15 setback with two RBIs, while Naveah Cooper added two RBIs on three hits.

Emily Smith and Audrey Chandler tallied three hits as well.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-8) visit Pocahontas County on Wednesday.
