Lady Mountain Lions best PB; Lady Tigers cruise
PHILIPPI — Tucker County erupted for 15 runs over the second and third innings to hand Philip Barbour an 18-6 setback on Tuesday evening.
Bella Loucks, who had six RBIs on the night, had a bases-clearing triple and Rylee White an RBI single during an eight-run outburst in the second inning as the Lady Mountain Lions took advantage of eight free passes.
Tucker County plated seven more runs in the third, with Peyton Hicks and Loucks supplying two-run doubles and Kadence Rosier, Becca Pase and Kesiha Arnold RBIs.
Hicks was 4 for 5 on the night and also earned the win on the mound in going all five frames.
Payton Holbert went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and drove in two for the Lady Colts.
Lillie Talbott added two hits and Peyton McDaniel an RBI single.
Pase and Arnold tallied two RBIs each for the Lady Mountain Lions, who who are now 3-7 and visit Tygarts Valley at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Philip Barbour (0-9) is scheduled to visit South Harrison on Monday.
Elkins 18, Bridgeport 5
BRIDGEPORT — Addison Carr drove in three runs to power Elkins to a 18-5 Big 10 Conference win over Bridgeport on Monday.
Carr cracked a bases-clearing double as part of a four-run first inning for the Lady Tigers, who also got an RBI single from Braelynn Washington in the inning.
Elkins blew open a 7-3 advantage with nine runs in the fourth inning.
Washington, Mady Shreve, Hailey Riffle and Audrey Millett had RBIs during the uprising, while three runners crossed on errors.
Maddie Lambert went all five innings to earn the win, allowing 10 hits, fanning four and not issuing a free pass.
Riffle went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Tigers, who are now 6-11 and host Doddridge County this evening.
Avery Humble cracked a two-run homer for the Lady Indians.
