MORGANTOWN — Good things came in threes for Elkins High School’s track teams on Saturday in the Morgantown Invitational at Mylan Park.
For the third meet in a row, Marissa Brenwalt pulled off a “hat trick” with triple wins in the 100-meter hurdles (15.51), 300 hurdles (48.34) and the long jump (16-6.75). Brenwalt also took second in the high jump (5-0) to tally 38 of the Elkins girls’ 85.5 points.
The Lady Tigers finished third overall out of 15 teams, with Morgantown (146) capturing the team crown and Washington (88) taking second.
Three of Brenwalt’s teammates also broke school records in the middle distance events, with Julia Biola placing second in the 3,200 (10:52.37), Emilia Tenney’s win in the 800 (2:16.09) and Trevor George’s second-place finish in the 800 (1:59.01).
Those three marks beat previous records held by Tenney in the 3,200 (2025, 10:59.22), Letitia Propst in the 800 (2010, 2:17.71) and Henrik Lange in the 800 (2005, 1:59.03).

Elkins High’s Trevor George broke a school record in the 800 (1:59.01) Saturday in the Morgantown Invitational at Mylan Park.
“As a coach, you develop a plan for all your athletes to be the best they can be,” said EHS coach Adam Romano. “Seeing all the hard work pay off for Trevor, Julia and Emilia was amazing. I am super proud of these great athletes.”
Biola and Tenney also joined with Molly McFadden and Alyssa White to finish first in the 4×800 (9:56.28) and George picked up a win in the 3,200 in a new personal-best of 9:20.30.
Other top individuals for the Tiger boys included Jaden Hatfield in the 100 (fourth, 11.34), 200 (fourth, 22.86) and Josh Bodkins in the 1,600 (second, 4:31.04).
The EHS boys 4×800 also took first place in a time of 8:18.47 with strong splits by Bodkins, Ben Tenney, Dylan Fortney and Bobby Valentine.
Elias Jones, Hatfield, Tony Silvester and Randal Marks also finished third for the Tigers in the 4×100 (44.55).
“Marissa (Brenwalt) and Elias (Jones) showed what being a ‘scholar-athlete’ is all about today,” said EHS coach Scott Biola. “They both took the ACT in the morning and then drove straight to Morgantown to compete hard in four events.”
Overall, the EHS boys finished fourth with 83 points to trail Morgantown (146), Frankfort (123) and Keyser (88).
EHS returns to action this Saturday at Parkersburg’s Russ Parsons Invitational. Field events begin at 11 a.m. and running starts at noon.
