Lady Tigers coast past TV

HUTTONSVILLE — Braelynn Washington had four RBIs as Elkins coasted to a 20-1 win over Tygarts Valley on Friday night.

Meria Tarley added three RBIs, going 3 for 5, Hailey Riffle went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and Maddie Lambert, Zeya Price and Maddie Shreve collected two RBIs apiece for the Lady Tigers.

Emily Smith and Macy Bell had hits for the Lady Bulldogs, who took a 1-0 lead in the first when Smith led off with a single and later scored on an error.

Elkins responded in the top of the second, plating eight runs and taking advantage of four errors.

Shreve laced a two-run triple to highlight the outburst.

The Lady Tigers added eight runs in the third and four more in the fourth as the game was halted after the bottom of the inning due to the mercy rule.

Tarley cracked a two-run double in the third, with Washington adding a run-scoring double.

Addison Carr and Tarley combined on a two-hitter for Elkins, each going two innings.

Tarrley fanned four and Carr two.

Hallie Ellis took the loss, striking out a pair.

The Lady Tigers (3-7) return home at 1 p.m. today to face Pocahontas County.

Tygarts Valley (2-6) is also in action today, hosting East Hardy at noon for a doubleheader.
