Lady Tigers drop decision to Minutemaids

ELKINS — Jaelyn Smith and Brooklyn Oldaker hit home runs to lift Lewis County to a 14-8 win over Elkins Tuesday night in Big 10 play at Betty Heckel Field.

Smith and Oldaker finished with three RBIs each for the Minutemaids, who scored six runs over the final two innings after holding an 8-7 lead.

Maddie Lambert went 3 for 4 with four RBIs to lead the Lady Tigers.

Hailey Riffle was 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs and Gabby Mahanes and Lalia Cade added RBIs.

Addison Carr and Lambert both saw time on the hill in the loss.

Oldaker earned the win, going all seven innings and striking out 9.

Elkins (2-6) visits Grafton on Thursday.

B-U 14, East Fairmont 2

FAIRMONT — A nine-run second inning propelled Buckhannon-Upshur to a 14-2 win over East Fairmont Tuesday in Big 10 Conference play.

Leah Bryant led the second-inning surge with a two-run double. Makenna Marsh and Kristine Frye added RBI singles.

Charity Talbott went all five innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and fanning five.

Kelcie Criss was charged with the loss.

Becca Pastorius, Payton Brown and Kynnedy Marple had two RBIs each for the Lady Bucs, who are now 9-5 and will travel to Oak Hill today.

Bridgeport 15, PB 0

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport claimed a 15-0 win over Philip Barbour Tuesday in Big 10 action.

Reese Van Zant and Avery Humble had two RBIs each for the Lady Indians.

Olivia Wilmoth, Leann Moss, Payton Holbert and Camryn Corley laced hits for the Lady Colts, who are now 0-6 and host Lincoln on Thursday.

Addison Mike earned the win for Bridgeport in going all three innings.
