Lady Tigers fall to Lady Bucs
Squires drives in five in 14-6 win

ELKINS — Braylea Squires knocked in five runs, including a solo homer in the first inning, to pace Buckhannon-Upshur to a 14-6 win over Elkins Thursday night in Big 10 Conference play at Betty Heckel Field.
Squires had a two-run triple in the second and two-run double in the fourth for the Lady Bucs, who broke open a 6-5 lead with seven runs in the fourth inning.
The Lady Tigers trailed 6-1 but plated four runs in the third inning to cut the deficit to one.
Addison Carr, who was 2 for 3 on the evening, cracked a two-run homer during the uprising, while Maddie Lambert added an RBI groundout, Gabby Mahanes raced home on a wild pitch.
Maddie Tucker’s bases-clearing double highlighted the fourth-inning surge for B-U.
Kynnedy Marple added a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Lady Bucs and Payton Brown a triple and an RBI.
Marple was credited with the win on the mound in relief, allowing no runs on one hits in 2 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Becca Pastorius went the first two innings, allowing two runs on two hits and fanning three.
Charity Talbott also saw time in relief.
Carr went four innings and Lambert an inning for the Lady Tigers, who are now 5-9.
The teams will meet again at 1 p.m. Saturday in Tennerton.
Elkins will also face Parkersburg at 3 p.m. and the Lady Bucs (14-6) battle Parkersburg at 11 a.m.
Preston 12, Tucker County 2
PARSONS — Preston used a 13-hit attack in cruising to a 12-2 win over Tucker County Thursday at Camp Kidd.
Peyton Hicks had two hits and Nettie Nelson an RBI for the Lady Mountain Lions.
Rhylinn Sanders had three RBIs for the Lady Knights and also earned the win on the mound, going all six innings and fanning seven.
Hicks was tagged with the loss, fanning seven and not issuing a walk in a complete-game outing.
Tucker County is slated to entertain East Hardy at 6 p.m. today.
TV 17, Pocahontas County 2
DUNMORE — Kailen Yokum cracked a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs to lead Tygarts Valley to a 17-2 win over host Pocahontas County on Wednesday evening.
Yokum had three hits on the night.
Lilly Lanham earned the win, going all three innings, allowing two hits and fanning five.
Lanham, Desiree Watson, Emily Smith and Nevaeh Cooper added two RBIs apiece for Tygarts Valley, which is now 3-8 and was slated to host defending Class A state champion Pendleton County on Thursday and remain home at 6 p.m. today to face Webster County.
