Marple twirls no-hitter for Lady Bucs
Carr hits grand slam in Lady Tigers’ loss
TENNERTON — Kynnedy Marple twirled a five-inning no-hitter as Buckhannon-Upshur picked up a 10-1 victory over Lewis County Wednesday in Big 10 Conference play.
Marple struck out six, didn’t issue a walk and the run she allowed was unearned.
Becca Pastorius went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Lady Bucs at the plate.
Payton Brown and Madi Knabsenshue added two RBIs each.
B-U (13-6) travels to Elkins this evening.
Fairmont Senior 21, Elkins 16
ELKINS — Fairmont Senior outslugged Elkins, 21-16, Tuesday night in Big 10 play at Betty Heckel Field.
The Lady Tigers held a 12-8 advantage in hits but were doomed by a 14-run second inning by the Lady Polar Bears.
Addison Carr had three hits and five RBIs on the night, including a grand slam, for Elkins in the setback.
Hailey Riffle went 4 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Tigers, while Gabby Mahanes had two hits, Zeya George a bases-clearing double and Mady Shreve two RBIs.
Bailey Lopez had seven RBIs for Fairmont Senior.
Elkins (5-8) remains home tonight to battle Big 10 rival Buckhannon-Upshur.
Preston 15, Philip Barbour 1
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour dropped a 15-1 verdict to Preston Tuesday in Big 10 Conference play.
McKenzie Price went all five innings to earn the win, allowing four hits, striking out none and not issuing a walk.
Olivia Wilmoth, Jhenna Hicks, Kinsley McDermott and Rylee Holbert had hits for the Lady Colts, who visit Fairmont Senior this evening.
Hicks took the loss on the mound.
Hannah Liston had three hits and two RBIs for the Lady Knights, while Scarlet Bell, Ava Thistlehwaite, Lannen Rouzee and Allyson Owens had two RBIs apiece.
