Westfall, Spratt spark Bucs past Bees; Colts blanked by Indians

ELKINS — Lewis County erupted for 10 runs in the sixth inning to take a 12-6 win over Elkins in Big 10 Conference play Tuesday night at EHS Field.
The Tigers held a 5-2 advantage until the Minutemen used just four hits in the sixth to take control. They scored all of their runs with two outs in the inning.
Andrew Nesbitt had a two-run single during the uprising
Konner Jones earn the win, allowing three runs on four hits over 3 2/3 innings. He fanned two and walked three.
Dyer Barger went 5 2/3 innings for Elkins, striking out 10 and allowing four runs on four hits.
Owen Stanley went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Tigers. Blayne Thompson and Barger added two hits each.
Will Gilgore, Isaac Shepler and Braden Cooper added RBIs.
Elkins (4-5) visits Grafton on Thursday.
B-U 5, East Fairmont 1
FAIRMONT — Jerin Westfall struck outt 11 over 5 2/3 innings to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to a 5-1 win over East Fairmont Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.
Westfall gave up one run on three hits.
Weldon Zirkle finished in relief, allowing no hits and fanning one.
Jaxon Spratt went 3 for 3 at the plate with a homer for the Bucs, who scored four runs in the fourth to break open a 1-1 deadlock.
Spratt had a three-homer and Brody McDaniels an RBI single in the frame.
B-U (5-1) will entertain Fairmont Senior on Thursday.
Bridgeport 10, PB 0
BRIDGEPORT — Aidan Dunn twirled a five-inning two-hitter as Bridgeport blanked Philip Barbour, 10-0, Tuesday in Big 10 action.
Dunn struck out six and walked three.
Robbie Jones took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings.
Dunn, Owen Sonderzoyer and Kasen Baun had two RBIs each for the Indians, who plated eight runs in the fifth inning to end the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Landyn Carpenter and Owen Hart accounted for the Colts’ hits.
Philip Barbour (4-5) hosts Lincoln on Thursday.
