Sissler pitches Cougars over Bulldogs
BAKER — Shayne Sissler tossed a five-inning no-hit gem to lead defending Class A state champion East Hardy to an 11-0 win over Tygarts Valley on Wednesday night.
Sissler struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter. He struck out the side on nine pitches in the fifth to end the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Jacob Wamsley was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs on 10 hits over 2 1/3 innings. He fanned one and walked three.
Evan Hamilton went 4 for 4 with a two-run homer and five RBIs for the Cougars.
Dayton Dove added three RBIs and Mason Hamilton drove in two runs.
The Bulldogs (10-5) entertain Webster County on Friday evening.
Philip Barbour 5, Preston 2
PHILIPPI — Anthony Mosesso knocked in three runs as Philip Barbour picked up a 5-2 win over Preston Tuesday in Big 10 Conference action.
Mosesso had a two-run double in the first and an RBI single in the fifth as the Colts broke open a 2-2 deadlock with three runs.
Robbie Jones had an RBI single during the fifth-inning surge, while Parker Fincham a run-producing triple.
Jones earned the win in six innings of work, allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out nine.
Kale Wolfe struck out two in one inning of relief.
Tanner Thomas was saddled with the loss for the Knights.
Landyn Carpenter added two hits for Philip Barbour and Robbie Lowe two safeties for Preston and Wyatt Moyer an RBI fielder’s choice.
The Colts (6-8) visit Fairmont Senior this evening for another league tilt.
