Teter powers Bulldogs to win; Colts fall to GW
MILL CREEK — Caleb Teter drove in five runs to power Tygarts Valley to a 16-1 victory over Richwood on Friday.
Teter had a bases-clearing single and RBI single in the second inning as the Bulldogs plated eight runs to build a 9-1 lead.
They tracked on seven more in the third as the game ended due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Austin Gear tallied an RBI double in the first for Tygarts Valley and Austin Wilson and Austin George RBI doubles in the third.
Teter, Wilson, Gear and Cooper Markley all had two hits for the Bulldogs.
Zayden Defibaugh went all three frames to garner the win, giving up two hits and fanning three.
Jayden Hamon took the loss.
Cameron Jenkins had an RBI for the Lumberjacks.
Tygarts Valley is slated to visit Summers County at noon today for a doubleheader.
GW 13, Philip Barbour 8
MORGANTOWN — George Washington used a 13-hit attack to outslug Philip Barbour, 13-8, Friday afternoon during Mon County Classic action at Mylan Park.
Eli Smith and Luke Gordon had three RBIs each for the Patriots, who trailed 4-2 before plating five runs in the third inning.
Gordon had a two-run double in the inning.
Anthony Mosesso went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Colts, while Landyn Carpenter, Kale Wolfe and Slaton Harris had two hits each.
Gordon worked four innings to earn the win, allowing six runs on five hits, fanning six and walking four.
Kent Rowan was tagged with the loss, going the first three innings, giving up seven runs on five hits, striking out two and walking four.
Eli Smith and Jon Fala had three hits apiece for GW.
Philip Barbour (4-7) will face Frankfort at 10 a.m. and defending Class AAA state champion Ripley at 3 p.m. today at Mylan Park.
