WESTON — Weldon Zirkle struck out eight in a complete-game outing as Buckhannon-Upshur picked up an 8-3 win over Lewis County Thursday night in Big 10 Conference play.

Zirkle gave up six hits and issued five walks.

Izaac Crislip was tagged with the loss, giving up eight runs on seven hits, fanning three and walking five in going the first four innings.

Jacob Frye cracked a two-run single in the fourth for the Bucs and finished with three RBIs on the night.

Jerin Westfall had three hits and an RBI and Alex Wamsley a pair of hits and an RBI in the win.

Brody McDaniels and Alex Wamsley each had an RBI.

Kaleb Craig and Joel Good had two hits each for the Minutemen, while Good and Garrett Moats RBIs.

B-U (13-9) visits Herbert Hoover this evening.

CLARKSBURG — Kynnedy Marple cracked a homer and twirled a two-hitter on the win on the mound to lift Buckhannon-Upshur to a 7-2 victory over Big 10 foe Robert C. Byrd on Thursday.

Marple had a solo blast in the second and added a triple in the seventh as part of going 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

She finished with 10 strikeouts and walked just one in going all seven frames.

Chloe Barlow fanned 12 in 5 2/3 innings in being saddled with the loss. She gave up seven runs on six hits.

Becca Pastorius added a pair of RBIs on two hits for the Lady Bucs, who ended the regular season 23-8 and will begin Class AAAA, South Region tourney play Tuesday at third-seed Parkersburg South.

Gracye Defazio and Torrin Strawderman each had an RBI for the Lady Flying Eagles.
