PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour rallied for a 7-4 win over Buckhannon-Upshur Friday night in Big 10 Conference action.

The Colts trailed 4-1 before erupting for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Slaton Harris had a two-run single, Robbie Jones, Owen Hart and Landyn Carpenter RBI doubles and Kent Rowan a run-producing single in the frame.

Keagan Wolfe earned the win in three innings of relief, allowing no runs or hits and fanning three.

Mattox Satterfield went the first three innings, striking out four and Jones struck out three batters he faced in one inning of work.

Clay Lantz was tagged with the loss in relief.

Jaxon Spartt went the first three innings, allowing one run on two hits and fanning three.

Jerin Westfall had two hits and an RBI for the Bucs at the plate, while Spratt had a pair of hits.

Dayton Morrison tallied an RBI single in the second for Philip Barbour, which finished the regular season 14-12 and will begin Class AA, Region II play Monday at home against Moorefield.

B-U dropped to 14-13 and travels to Cabell Midland next week in Class AAAA, South Region action.

Tygarts Valley 14, Elkins 4

ELKINS — Preston Smith went 4 for 5 with six RBIs as Tygarts Valley cruised to a 14-4 win over Elkins in five innings on Friday night.

Smith’s had a bases-clearing double as part of a five-run second inning as the Bulldogs built a 6-1 lead.

They erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning with Smith singling in three runs and Austin Wilson, Corbin Oldaker, Zayden Defibaugh, Adam Woods drawing bases-loaded walks.

Braden Cooper and James Linger had hits for the Tigers, while Trent Stone and Owen Stanley RBIs.

The teams used nine different pitchers in the contest.

Stanley had three strikeouts in two innings of work for Elkins, while Dyer Barger, Will Kilgore and Isaac Shepler fanned two apiece.

Barger started on the hill.

Defibaugh had four strikeouts in two innings for Tygarts Valley. Wamsley pitched the first inning with two strikeouts and Woods fanned three in two innings of action.

Both teams begin regional play next week.

The Tigers (12-14) entertain Keyser Monday in Class AAA, Region II play and the Bulldogs (14-14) will entertain the winner of Monday’s game between Pocahontas County at Pendleton County on Tuesday.
