MILL CREEK — East Hardy displayed the makings of a team seeking to repeat as Class A state champions Friday night against Tygarts Valley.
Shayne Sisler allowed just three hits, one unearned and struck out six as the Cougars claimed a 15-1 win over the Bulldogs.
Lead-off hitter Evan Hamilton went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles to lead the East Hardy offense, which blew the game open with an eight-run fourth inning en route to ending the contest after five frames due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Evan Hamilton cracked a bases-clearing double in the inning, while Sisler, who was 3 for 4 at the plate, Dayton Dove, Patrick Mills and Mason Hamilton RBI singles and Gage Dove an RBI sacrifice fly as the Cougars opening up a 14-0 lead.
Tygarts Valley scored its lone run of the game in the home-half of the inning when Corban Oldaker singled in Austin Gear.

Gear and Adam Woods had the other hits for the Bulldogs.
Mason Hamilton and Sisler added three RBIs each for East Hardy and Dayton Dove and Gage Dove tallied a pair of RBIs apiece.
Woods was saddled with the loss, going the first three innings and allowing five runs on six hits and fanning six.
Cooper Markley and Zayden Defibaugh finished in relief.
Tygarts Valley (13-12) returns to action at 5 p.m. Monday at regional foe Pocahontas County.
North Marion 8, Philip Barbour 7
RACHEL — North Marion rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Philip Barbour, 8-7, Friday night in Big 10 Conference play.
Justin Waskis scored on a passed ball to give the Huskies the walk-off win.
The Colts had scored six runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead.
Robbie Jones had a two-run single, Parker Fincham a two-run double and Landyn Carpenter an RBI single in the inning.
North Marion answered with two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to cut the lead to 6-4.
An error accounted for a run for Philip Barbour in the sixth.
Waskis’ two-run single highlighted the seventh-inning rally for the Huskies.
The Colts (12-12) return home Tuesday to face Tygarts Valley.
