Harman’s Heavner poised to make state meet again in 2026

HARMAN — Harman’s Jessie Heavner is once again making some noise on the track scene this spring.

The junior looks to qualify for the state meet once again and will go into regional competition with plenty of momentum after capturing the Potomac Valley Conference title in the 400-meter dash and placing first in three straight meets in that event.

She also placed fourth in the 200 in the PVC meet.

Heavner has the sixth fastest time in Class A, according to the runwv.com Best Performance List, and place seventh in the 400 in last year’s state meet.

Harman will compete in the Region II meet Tuesday at Keyser High School, along with Tygarts Valley, Tucker County. Pocahontas County, East Hardy and Union.

The Tucker County girls had a strong performance in the PVC Championships, placing second to Petersburg.

The Lady Mountain Lions’ Lela Wright captured titles in the 100 and 200 and was also part of the winning 4×200, along with Mayah Gross, Addi Moats and Rachel Hile.

Moats also won the 800 and 1,600, while Estoria Chase claimed the 3,200
