FAIRMONT — Gabby Mahanes cracked a grand slam as Elkins cruised to an 11-1 win over Fairmont Senior Thursday evening in Big 10 Conference action.

The Lady Tigers led 5-1 before erupting for six runs in the six, with Mahanes’ slam leading the charge.

Hailey Riffle and Addison Carr added run-producing singles in the inning as well.

Mahanes, Audrey Millett and Meria Tarley had RBI singles in the third and Braelynn Washington singled home a run in the second to tie the game at 1-1.

Maddie Lambert went all six innings in the mercy-shortened game to earn the win, allowing five hits, fanning four and walking three.

Kylo Dodd took the loss in going the distance, giving up 11 hits, striking out three and walking five.

Dodd also had an RBI at the plate.

Mahanes finished with three hits, while Millett and Tarley collected two apiece.

Elkins finished the regular season 11-14 and will be the fourth seed in next week’s Class AAA, Region II tourney, hosting No. 5 Bridgeport in its opener on Monday.
