Orndorf pitches Falcons over Colts

RIDGELEY — Lanson Orndorf has made a living coming up big for Frankfort in postseason play on the mound.

The two-time, all-state first-team selection, who helped the Falcons win the 2024 state title, didn’t allow a hit in a 15-0 win over last year’s state runner-up Philip Barbour Tuesday night in a Class AA, Region II winner’s bracket contest.

The fourth-seeded Colts (15-13) will now host fifth-seed Moorefield in an elimination game, while top-seed Frankfort (21-7) will host the winner of that game — needing just one victory to advance to the state tournament.

Moorefield eliminated eighth-seed Braxton County, 13-3, on Tuesday as Matthew Iman went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, including a two-run triple.

Orndorf struck out five and walked one as the contest ended after the Falcons scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to signal the mercy rule.

Kale Wolfe was tagged with the loss, allowing 11 runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking five in going two innings.

Frankfort led 2-0 before scoring eight runs in the second.

Jesus Perdew’s bases-clearing triple highlighted the outburst, with Braeden Laffey singling in a pair of runs, Blake Jacobs added an RBI double and Jaxon Hare and Rhett Sensabaugh contributing run-producing singles.

Perdew finished with four RBIs on the night, while Jaxon Hare added two hits and an RBI doubl and Laffey a pair of hits.

Starting at $3.92/week.
