TV’s Wamsley receives another coaching honor

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley boys basketball coach has added another honor to his luxurious career.

Wamsley has been recognized by the West Virginia Schools Athletic Coaches Association (WVSACA) as one of the coaches of the year for the 2025-2026.

He has been tabbed the Leon McCoy Ethic in Coaching Award winner and will be recognized before kickoff of the North-South Football Classic on Saturday, June 20, at South Charleston High School.

The game begins at noon.

“It was great of the coach’s association to create such an award as it reflects well upon our profession,” said Wamsley, who completed his 36th season as the Bulldog mentor this year. ” In the same light, I’m humbled and honored to receive such recognition from my peers and from people whose opinions matter.”

During his tenure at Tygarts Valley, Wamsley has collected over 400 wins. The court at the gymnasium is named in his honor, along with Bill Weber.
