Aguilar continues dominant season
WEST VIRGINIA — Rising junior golf star Valentina Aguilar continued her impressive 2026 season with outstanding performances in the second and third events of the Callaway Junior Tour, held on June 1 and June 2, further strengthening her position in the race for a third consecutive Player of the Year title.
The second event of the tour took place at the beautiful Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane a course known for its demanding layout featuring towering trees, winding fairways, water hazards and challenging terrain. The difficult conditions proved challenging early in the round, making it difficult for Valentina to find her usual rhythm.
Despite the slow start, the 12-year-old golfer demonstrated the determination and resilience that have become trademarks of her game. As the round progressed, she settled in, managed the course strategically, and steadily separated herself from the competition.
By the end of the day, Valentina had turned a difficult start into a dominant victory, winning by more than nine strokes over the runner-up. The accomplishment was particularly impressive considering that she is competing against girls who are often two to three years older, including several 14- and 15-year-olds who already compete on high school golf teams.
Just one day later, Valentina returned to action at the third Callaway Junior Tour event, held at Esquire Golf Course in Barboursville. Cool temperatures and pleasant weather created ideal scoring conditions, and Valentina took full advantage.
Starting her round on the back nine, she posted four pars and five bogeys for a solid opening nine-hole score of 41. While the scorecard showed consistency, her best golf was still ahead.
The front nine became a showcase of confidence and composure. Valentina produced six consecutive pars, followed by a bogey, a birdie, and a closing par to finish with an impressive nine-hole score of 36. Her total round of 77 established a new personal best on the Callaway Junior Tour and represented one of the strongest performances of her young career.
The score was even more impressive considering it tied the best score recorded that day by a player competing in the highly competitive 18-and-under division. The achievement further reinforced Valentina’s growing belief that she may soon be ready to challenge herself against older competitors despite being only 13 years old later this season.
With momentum building, Valentina now turns her attention to an exciting stretch of tournaments. Before returning to the Callaway Junior Tour, she will compete in the prestigious West Virginia Women’s Amateur Championship at the Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort from June 14-16, where she will test her game against many of the state’s top female golfers.
She will then continue her Callaway Junior Tour campaign at Fisher Mountain Golf Club on June 17.
Looking ahead to July, Valentina is especially excited to represent herself on an international stage at the U.S. Kids Golf Canadian Invitational in Niagara Falls, scheduled for July 6-7. The event will bring together talented young golfers from across North America and provide another opportunity for her to measure her game against elite competition.
With multiple victories already this season, a career-best score, and a schedule filled with prestigious tournaments, Valentina Aguilar continues to establish herself as one of the brightest young golfers in the region. As she pursues a third consecutive Callaway Junior Tour Player of the Year award, her dedication, work ethic, and competitive spirit continue to set her apart and suggest that even greater achievements may lie ahead.
