SUMMERSVILLE — The Elkins 8-10 and 11-12-year-old All-Stars are one victory away from advancing to the state tournament in their respective age divisions.
The 11-12-year-olds are undefeated in District 8 tournament play, earning shutout wins over Barbour County (10-0) and Braxton County (11-0)
They face tournament host Summersville at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Nicholas County Veterans Memorial Park in the title game. A loss sends Elkins into the loser’s bracket finale on Sunday with the winner also moving on to states as the district runner-up.
In Friday’s elimination action, Tygart Valley faces Barbour County at 6 p.m. and Braxton County battles Pocahontas County at 8 p.m.
The winners of those two contests square off on Saturday.

Tucker County was eliminated from the tournament by Pocahontas County on Sunday.
In 8-10-year-old action, Elkins and Barbour County meet Saturday for the championship. The loser of that contest will also remain alive for a state berth in the loser’s bracket finale.
On Friday, Tucker County faces Tygart Valley and Summersville battles Braxton County in elimination action.
The winners are set to face off on Saturday, with the victor meeting either Elkins or Barbour County for a state berth as the district runner-up.
Barbour County has recorded wins over Summersville (16-1) and Braxton County (14-3) in tourney play.
The 11-12-year-old state tournament begins in Barboursville on July 18 and the 9-10-year-old tourney starts play July 10 in Martinsburg.
