Mountaineers add top 25 WR for class of 2027

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football scored a top Pennsylvania football prospect. 3-star wide receiver Chase Guers announced on social media that he’s committed to the Mountaineers. Guers is the consensus 25th-best player in the state.

Guers picked WVU over multiple Power Four schools, including Illinois, Cincinnati, UConn and Syracuse. He recently took an official visit with the Bearcats on June 12, but he still decided to join Rich Rodriguez’s squad. Guers went on an official visit to Morgantown on June 5.

The Schuylkill Haven native was a multi-sport athlete, running track as well as football. He made the state qualifiers in the 100 and 200 meters and set the school record in the 400 meters as a junior. On the field at Blue Mountain High School, Guers played in 12 games and had 35 catches for 535 yards and six touchdowns. He also carried the ball three times and returned punts and kicks, returning two for touchdowns. The 6-foot-2 athlete forced a fumble and an interception on defense.

Guers became WVU’s 23rd commit for the class, and the fourth receiver. He’s the second-highest rated receiver and 10th-highest in the class. The Mountaineers are ranked No. 31 in the country, which is a few spots ahead of rival Pitt. WVU is still a few points behind Kansas State for the second-best class in the Big 12.

Starting at $3.92/week.
