SOUTH CHARLESTON — Philip Barbour had an historic 2025 season so it was only fitting the 2026 North-South All-Star Football Classic would have a Colt feeling.

Patrick Webster returned an interception 58 yards for a score and University’s Jack Byrer, the great-grandson of legendary Philip Barbour coach George Byrer, accounted for three scores as the North of Colts head coach Nick Mayle rolled to a 34-7 win over the South Saturday afternoon at South Charleston High School.

Byrer was named the North’s MVP — rushing for a score, throwing for another and hauling in a TD pass.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Dawson Tenney, meanwhile, completed 4 of 4 passes for 61 yards and a TD strike to Parkersburg’s Tytan Parsons for the North squad, which also included Philip Barbour players Aidan Phillips and Malachi Cross and assistant coach Toby Poling.

Byrer’s touchdown pass was to Bridgeport’s Harrison Hall that made it 34-0 in the fourth quarter.

The South got on the board with under 40 seconds remaining to play on 45-yard TD pass from St. Albans’ Reese Lilly to Chapmanville’s Trey Ward.

Herbert Hoover’s Blake Fisher was named the South MVP.

Starting at $3.92/week.
