Pendleton County, East Hardy to battle in Class A quarterfinals

PARKERSBURG — The pairings for the 2026 high school baseball tournament were released Tuesday by the West Virginia Secondary Schools Athletic Commission (WVSSAC) on Tuesday afternoon.

The tournament will now include eight teams in each class, with the event also moving from Charleston to Marshall University’s Jack Cook Field in Huntington.

In Class A, Potomac Valley Conference rivals second-seed and defending state champion East Hardy and seventh-seed Pendleton County will battle at 5 p.m. Saturday in quarterfinal action.

Other quarterfinal games set for Saturday include No. 1 Huntington St. Joseph’s (31-3) vs. No. 8 Trinity (13-12), No. 4 Gilmer County (27-6) vs. No. 5 Greater Beckley Christian (23-12) and No. 3 Sherman (24-8) vs. No. 6 Madonna (16-13).

The semifinals are slated for Thursday, June 11, and the title game on Saturday, June 13.

The other top seeds in the tournament include George Washington (AAAA), Bridgeport (AAA) and Wheeling Central (AA).
