Elkins 11-12 and 8-10-year-old All-Stars advance to states
Barbour County 8-10s capture District 8 title
ELKINS — Both the Elkins 11-12 and 8-10-year-old All-Stars are headed to state tournament action.
The 11-12s are the District 8 tourney runner-ups after defeating Barbour County, 8-7 in seven innings at Summersville, to advance.
The 9-10s are also the District 8 runner-ups, getting past Braxton County, 10-5.
Barbour County’s 8-10-year-old squad captured the District 8 title with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Elkins in the title game.
The 11-12-year-old state tournament begins July 18 at Barboursville.
In 8-10 state tournament play in Martinsburg, Elkins begins play at 7 p.m. on July 10 against District 5 runner-up WesMon in Mountaineer Bracket action
Barbour County’s opening game will be against District 5 champion Bridgeport at 4:30 p.m. on July 10 in Herd Bracket play.
Barbour County Little League will host a hot dog sale, bake sale and car wash fundraiser starting at 9 a.m. Friday at Hometown Care in Belington.
