Stone powers RC Junior Legion to win over Post 7 Junior

ELKINS — Trent Stone went 3 for 4 and cracked a two-run homer to power Randolph County Junior Legion to an 8-3 win over Buckhannon Post 7 Junior Legion Monday night at EHS field.

Stone finished with four RBIs on the evening, adding a run-producing single in the second as RC plated two runs in the frame to tie the game at 3-3.

Post 7 plated two runs in the first as Luke Wamsley singled in Bryar Sandy and Jaxon McDaniels drew a bases-loaded walk.

Alex Wamsley’s RBI groundout in the top of the second extended the lead to 3-0.

Stone, meanwhile, held Buckhannon scoreless in three innings of relief.

He allowed just two hits and fanned two.

Corban Oldaker went the first three frames, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out three.

RC drew even in the second when Stone, who scored on a passed ball in the first, singled home Arbogast and Cooper Markley brought home Preston Smith with another single.

Stone’s two-run homer in the fourth with Smith aboard gave the hosts the lead for good.

Randolph County tacked on three more runs in the sixth as Markley cracked an RBI groundout and Stone and Blayne Thompson scored on a wild pitch and passed ball, respectively.

Sandy was saddled with the loss for Post 7, allowing five runs on nine hits over five innings with three strikeouts.

Markley added two hits in the win and Luke Wamsley had two safeties for Buckhannon.

Randolph County (4-5) was slated to visit Keyser Post 41 Junior Legion on Tuesday evening.

Post 7 (2-3) played host to Gilmer County Tuesday for a doubleheader.
