ELKINS – The Elkins High School golf team placed second in a tri-match held Wednesday at the Elks Golf Course.

Alexander Randolph (33), Audrey Kerr (37), and Patrick Aucremanne (38) placed second, third, and fourth to lead Bridgeport to the victory. Preston rounded out the field and finished the team competition in third place.

The Tigers were led by Kendrick Smith’s low-medalist score of 32. Lucas Collier followed in fifth place with a 39.

“We battled with one of the better teams in the state in Bridgeport and we played well,” said Elkins coach David Baird. “Kendrick (Smith) played possibly the best match I’ve had a player play for me in over 20 years of coaching. He shot a 32 against one of the best players in the state in Alex Randolph. I was very proud of the way he was able to stay focused against tough competition. Hopefully this is a sign of what he will be able to do in the postseason.”

Lincoln Fletcher (44) placed ninth for the Tigers, while Braden Cooper (45) and Kaden Marcum (45) tied for 11th place. Dyer Barger finished 13th with a 47.

Elkins will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to the Tygart Lake Golf Club for a match against Philip Barbour and Robert C. Byrd. The match will get underway at 4 p.m.
