ELKINS -- Elkins rebounded from its first loss of the season and delivered a commanding performance Friday night, rolling to a 50-0 victory over Lewis County in a game that showcased the Tigers' physicality, depth, and control from start to finish.
Behind a relentless rushing attack and a defense that never allowed the visiting Minutemen to gain traction, Elkins turned the matchup into a statement win that resonated across the stadium.
The Tigers wasted no time asserting themselves in the contest and hit paydirt on the opening drive when Jaden Hatfield muscled in for a 1‑yard touchdown at the 9:09 mark.
Elkins struck again just minutes later when Seth Robinson broke free for a 17‑yard touchdown run, pushing the deficit to 14-0 with 7:36 remaining in the opening stanza.
Lewis County struggled to slow the tempo and Elkins continued to roll as Dyer Barger's 20-yard field goal at 3:48 made it 17-0 and closed out a first quarter that was dominated by the Tigers' offensive line and ball‑control efficiency.
Hatfield punched in a 5‑yard touchdown at 11:56 of the second quarter to extend the lead to 24-0. Moments later, Hatfield delivered one of the biggest highlights of the half, a 27-yard touchdown burst that showcased his acceleration and vision. A blocked extra point kept the score at 30-0, but Elkins' momentum remained intact.
Robinson added his second touchdown of the night with a 3‑yard run that stretched the lead to 37-0. Elkins then turned to the air when quarterback Cyrus Kump connected with Xavier Workman for an 8‑yard touchdown pass late in the half that gave the Tigers a commanding 43-0 lead at intermission.
Lewis County's offense never found rhythm, repeatedly meeting resistance from an Elkins defense that swarmed to the ball, clogged running lanes, and forced hurried throws the entire night. The Minutemen rarely crossed midfield and when they did the Tigers quickly shut them down.
Elkins capped off the scoring in the third quarter when Elias Jones powered in from 5-yards out with 3:22 left in the stanza.
The Tigers (2-1) will travel to Tennerton to face rival Buckhannon-Upshur next Friday. Lewis County (0-3) will travel to East Fairmont the same evening.
