MILL CREEK – Braylon Willis rushed for 108 yards and two scores to help power Pendleton County to a 54-6 win over Tygarts Valley Friday night in Potomac Valley Conference action at Bulldog Field.
The Wildcats (2-2, 1-2) stormed out to a 27-0 lead at the half and never looked back in the contest.
After forcing the Bulldogs to punt on the opening drive of the game, Cameron Wyatt took the first play of scrimmage for Pendleton County 74 yards to the end zone to make it 7-0 at the 9:58 mark of the opening stanza.
The Wildcats extended the lead to 14-0 five minutes later when Willis scored his first touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run. The drive was set up when Jonah See pulled in an interception for the Pendleton County defense.
The Wildcats pushed the deficit to 21-0 just before the end of the first quarter when Mason Miller threw a 21-yard touchdown pass. Pendleton County crossed the goal line one more time in the half when Willis scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard scamper to make it 27-0 at the break.
The Wildcats went in front 33-0 when Travis Owens took the opening kickoff of the second half 90 yards to paydirt.
Pendleton County extended the lead to 41-0 with 3:13 left in the third quarter when Miller threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Britton Lough.
Tygarts Valley (0-5) got on the board on the first play of the fourth quarter when Isaac Maxwell raced in for a 52-yard touchdown to make it 41-6 with 11:39 remaining in regulation.
Wyatt then scored his second touchdown of the game when he hauled in a scoring strike from Miller that pushed the Wildcats’ advantage to 48-6.
Cayson Armstrong capped off the scoring in the contest for Pendleton County when he ran in for a 25-yard touchdown.
Miller finished the game with 214 yards passing for the Wildcats, while Lough had four receptions for 81 yards.
Maxwell finished with 99 yards rushing on 19 carries for the Bulldogs. Elijah Stanley completed 3 of 9 passes for 66 yards.
Tygarts Valley will travel to Richwood next Friday. Pendleton County will entertain Tucker County the same evening.
