New trout stocking program beginning

This spring, trout anglers should start getting prepared for what appears to be a new stocking idea. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources plan to stock lakes and streams in and near some of the best state parks on Fridays and Saturdays. Now these are not additional or extra trout stockings. They are trout stockings that certain waters would receive in the first place. The real change is that the DNR plans to let the public know in advance just when these stockings will occur. This program is to attract more visitors to the state parks for the weekends. The NASCAR top series are on their western swing. This past week all three series invaded the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The weather included high winds that played havoc with the set ups. Crossbow a challenge for hunters

When I started deer hunting in the early 1960s, it was unlawful to hunt deer with a crossbow or to even be afield with this type of a weapon. The most common bow at this time was the long bow. The recurve soon came along, and the compound bow came on strong in the mid 1970s. It was in the late 1970s when big game bow hunting became popular with West Virginia hunters.
