Tygarts Valley High School student charged with bringing Suboxone to school
ELKINS – A Randolph County man is behind bars after he allegedly stole prescription drugs from his parents and took them to school, where he shared them with a classmate.
Ronnie Lee Nicholas Jr., 18, of Mill Creek, is charged with one felony count of delivery of a controlled substance. He is housed at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond set by Randolph County Magistrate George M. “Mike” Riggleman.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court by Deputy E.B. Carr, of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, Nicholas took some of his parents’ prescribed Suboxone.
After taking the medication, Nicholas traveled to school at Tygarts Valley High School and gave his friend, a 16-year-old juvenile, a portion of the pill, the complaint states.
Based on a statement given to Cpl. B.A. Talkington, also of the RCSO, Nicholas “took about half a pill and split it in half again and shared it with his friend,” the criminal report reads.
A press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office stated the investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges may be brought up. They also ask anyone with information relating to this case to contact them by calling 304-636-2111.
If convicted, Nicholas could be sentenced to not less than one nor more than five years in the state penitentiary, fined not more than $15,000 or both.
Other arrests recorded in Randolph County:
Lora Lynn McCauley, 38, of Elkins, is charged with one felony count of nighttime burglary. She is housed at TVRJ on a $25,000 cash-only bond set by Riggleman.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Randolph County Magistrate Court, on Aug. 24, Senior Patrolman T.H. Foster, of the Elkins Police Department, was dispatched to a first-floor apartment at 220 Second St., in Elkins, regarding items being stolen.
Upon arrival, Foster met with the alleged victim, who told him that while he was in jail, a black and silver television stand, two flat-screen televisions, a CD/DVD player, several cooking utensils, clothing, his checkbook, a knife and coin collection, a carpet shampooer and two vacuum cleaners, among other items, were stolen from his apartment, the complaint states.
While returning to his police cruiser, Foster was approached by a female individual who said the items belonging to the alleged victim had been taken to the third floor of the apartment complex and split between two apartments.
She added the items were taken by McCauley and a male individual. She also described the items that she had witnessed McCauley taking, which matched the items described by the alleged victim, police said.
The female told Foster that McCauley and the male individual had went into the alleged victim’s apartment several times between Aug. 13 and Aug. 16 to take the items, according to the complaint.
If convicted, McCauley could be sentenced to not less than one nor more than 15 years in the state penitentiary.
